Singapore, a leading global FinTech hub, is known for its vibrant and collaborative ecosystem comprised of an array of startups, international financial institutions, investors, accelerators, leading research institutes and more. With its business-friendly environment, access to expertise and strong support from the government and regulators, the city-state is considered to be one of the gateways into Asia’s massive market of unparalleled opportunities.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is rapidly moving towards the creation of a Smart Financial Centre where technology is used pervasively in the financial industry. To support the development of a vibrant FinTech ecosystem, the MAS has taken several steps such as committing S$225 million under the Financial Sector Technology & Innovation (FSTI) scheme, the launch of the FinTech and Innovation Group (FTIG) and the FinTech Office, and much more.
To further create an atmosphere to drive innovation and co-creation, the MAS in partnership with The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) has organized a week-long inaugural Singapore FinTech Festival. The event will be held from November 14 to 18, 2016 and will include a series of distinct, back-to-back FinTech events. The Singapore FinTech Festival is set to bring together startups, financial institutions, investors, government agencies and other local and international ecosystem partners.
One of the most exciting parts of the festival: VC Pitch Day by Aviva
An important part of the event will happen on November 14: during the Singapore FinTech Festival, Aviva Ventures – a venture arm of Aviva and a multinational insurance company – will host its first-ever VC Pitch Day at its Digital Garage. For this event, Aviva Ventures together with seven other venture investors and in partnership with MEDICI invites all seed to early-stage startups to join for intimate access to a group of the best early-stage VC funds in SE Asia. Eight VC funds are joining for two hours (12 PM–2 PM), which are available for entrepreneurs to pitch their startups for investment.
Among partner VC firms that will be attentively assessing pitching startups along with Aviva Ventures will be such notable participants of the global VC ecosystem as Golden Gate Ventures, Singtel Innov8, Gree Ventures, SeedPlus, 500 Startups, SPH Media Ventures and True Global Ventures.
Dedicated to the global FinTech ecosystem, MEDICI – as the event partner – invites bright entrepreneurs to apply for the VC Pitch Day by Aviva for an unprecedented opportunity to meet industry professionals and receive feedback on their ideas and solutions. Every startup will have 10 minutes to pitch to one of the participating VCs, which are carefully chosen based on their active participation in regional innovative initiatives and are looking to support promising ventures.
Every registered participant will receive strong support from the LTP Team and MEDICI:
- All startups registering for VC Pitch Day by Aviva will receive a $900 bonus to obtain the MEDICI startup plan for one year.
- In addition to $900-value annual plan, startups registered for the event will receive premium exposure to MEDICI’s network of 75+ FinTech-specific investors and 150+ financial institutions globally.
- Finally, applicants will be granted an opportunity to share their progress with more than 60K industry professionals subscribed to LTP (LetsTalkPayments.com) via one free press release a month for one year.
Aviva also invites startups to register for its morning event: the organizer is kicking off the Innovation Lab Crawl at the garage in the morning where startups will get to hear from the Head of FinTech Innovation at MAS and will share with participants its innovation journey.
