The Network Branded Prepaid Card Association (NBPCA), a national trade association dedicated to supporting the continued growth and success of network branded prepaid cards, announced that Brad Fauss was recently elected to serve as its new president and CEO. Fauss, who was serving as interim executive director and general counsel, was unanimously elected by the board of directors and will immediately assume the new position.
“On behalf of the entire board, I am truly delighted that Brad Fauss will be leading the NBPCA during a critical period of growth and innovation for the prepaid industry,” said NBPCA Chairman of the Board Wendy Lewis. “His extensive knowledge gleaned from more than 15 years working in the payments industry together with nearly a decade of involvement with the NBPCA made promoting Brad to lead the association a simple and clear decision.”
In addition to his recent term as interim executive director, Fauss previously served as general counsel, chairman of the board, and as a director through nearly a decade of involvement with the NBPCA. He not only brings his extensive knowledge of the prepaid market specifically but also of the financial services industry more broadly, gleaned from his long and successful legal career.
“I am humbled by the board’s decision and excited to continue the work of the NBPCA to advance and grow the prepaid industry as well as to safeguard consumer access to one of the fastest growing forms of payment,” said Fauss. “I look forward to continue pursuing the association’s policy goals and industry priorities that spur innovation and availability of prepaid products.”
Fauss is an accomplished attorney with more than twenty years of experience, most of which has been focused on payments law, including senior leadership positions with Brightwell Payments, TSYS Prepaid and Global Payments, among others. Fauss most recently served as the executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Brightwell Payments. Before working in-house, Fauss practiced law with Alston & Bird LLP in Atlanta, Georgia, and Parker, Poe, Adams, and Bernstein, LLP in Raleigh, North Carolina.
He received a BS in Finance, Summa Cum Laude, from Florida State University and a JD, with Honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a frequent speaker on legal, regulatory and compliance topics related to the prepaid card industry.
Fauss succeeds Doug Bower who resigned as executive director earlier this year for health reasons.
