Braintree, the mobile payments platform, is rolling out the One Touch payment experience in countries like Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and UK. Already available in U.S. since September, it enables users to pay across apps seamlessly through a single platform. It simply eliminates the need for usernames and passwords. The company eventually will roll out the service across more than 40 nations.
Braintree’s service is integrated with PayPal and allows users to pay for products and services on a range of apps with a single tap in a secure manner. One Touch is active across merchants like Jane.com, ParkWhiz, StubHub, Type Tees by Threadless and YPlan in U.S. In Europe, companies like Cabonline in Sweden, JustPark in the UK and Polagram in France are planning to integrate the service.
Braintree claims the service to be faster and safer for mobile shoppers, helping in reducing shopping cart abandonment. Merchants like StubHub have witnessed 50% increase in sales and transactions by going through PayPal with One Touch while YPlan reported a double digit increase in conversions since having enabled One Touch. To enable One Touch, merchants need to integrate with Braintree’s v.zero SDK. It’s a 10 minute procedure and gives merchants access to One Touch, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay and soon bitcoin in near future.
This also gets merchants access to PayPal’s 157 million global active customers, a customizable drop in checkout form, foreign currency acceptance.
