The exponential spread of the coronavirus across the world has dominated headlines globally. While the primary focus is on public health, there’s no denying the fact that the COVID-19 outbreak has also put economies around the world on ventilators as businesses have taken a hit. With financial markets experiencing high volatility and entire countries under lockdown, it is unknown how the FinTech industry will look like post the ongoing pandemic.
However, the COVID-19 crisis also presents an opportunity to embrace something that the FinTech community thrives at: problem-solving using technology and innovation. In these challenging and uncertain times, technology does have a pivotal role to play. At a time when working from home is becoming a norm, the use of digital technology to pursue almost all the business activities becomes essential. With countries across the globe recommending social distancing, the trend of cashless transactions and digital payments will continue to grow positively. Insurance may also be positively impacted, but what about lending, wealth management, and other segments? To help banks serve their customers through these challenging times, many FinTech companies have extended their support with better terms and (or) accelerated deployment offers.
With the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative to conduct discussions about the ongoing black swan event. IAMAI/FCC and MEDICI have become more involved than ever in championing FinTech thought leadership through experiential media. With the notion of “never waste a crisis,” IAMAI/FCC is partnering with global leaders in FinTech content & research, MEDICI, to bring a series of interviews featuring prominent founders and personalities in the FinTech industry and the ecosystem.
We look forward to kick-starting this series on April 8 with Mr. Sameer Nigam, Founder & CEO of PhonePe, and Mr. Ashish Kashyap, Founder & CEO of INDwealth, on the topic of “Braving a Crisis with Tech & FinTech.” The webinar will feature Mr. Amit Goel, Founder of MEDICI, who will be hosting and moderating this session.
This inaugural edition of the webinar has been scheduled from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM.
