With the integration of mobile technology into our everyday lives, it seems only appropriate that the speed and ease of emerging electronic payment systems be able to keep up with or surpass those of yonder days. Enter Braintree’s One Touch: A simple way to make one-click payments from your phone, and when we say one-click, we mean one-click.
One Touch is a feature included in Braintree’s innovative v.zero SDK. The v.zero SDK allows merchants to accept a variety of payments through their mobile apps or web-stores. These include, but are not limited to, electronic wallets such as PayPal, Apple Pay, Venmo, and most major credit/debit cards. One Touch is platform agnostic within the mobile realm, so you can enjoy this convenient feature on almost every smartphone. To use the feature within an app utilizing PayPal or Venmo, the respective apps must be installed on the users phone (Apple Pay is, of course, already installed on iPhones). During the first use a login will be required, but every instance after will be a one-click experience. Support is currently available in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the U.K., France, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Italy, and Spain, with more locations to come.
Yesterday, Lyft, a company that provides cab rides booked from a mobile app, released a version of its app that integrates One Touch using PayPal. Now Lyft users can quickly, easily, and securely pay for their rides, literally through one-click, without the need to continually login or enter credit card information. To celebrate, PayPal and Lyft are providing SXSW attendees a chance to have a slightly different Lyft experience – Magic Mode. Attendees who choose to use Magic Mode in the Lyft app have a chance of being picked up in some pretty sweet rides, such as an original Mini Cooper, 1963 Bentley, Tesla Model S, and many others. As another gift, free Lyft x PayPal Merchandise will be given out by drivers, and $5 will be taken off of the first Magic Mode ride.
