For our readers around the world, you might be interested in knowing that India has its own version of Disrupt SF and Starteurope and Web 2.0 summit - Nasscom Product Conclave 2013. For many years startup and investment themes around Healthcare, enterprise software, web 2.0/3.0, VAS, Online & Mobile ads, Social, Cloud and Mobility have been amongst the main ones. And this year the Payment related tracks seem to be getting a lot of limelight.
The above picture shows that while there are 6 other generic tracks, the two industry focused tracks are on Mobile and Payments.
Here is the long list of some amazing sessions around payments today (29th Oct): Please check the detailed schedule as well if you are going. There are other sessions as well.
Mukund Mohan (one of the volunteers behind NPC) explained why NPC 13 is unique, in a blog post:
Reason #3 "The largest gathering of payments experts in India in one place. The #payments track is hosting the top 10 investors, companies, entrepreneurs and innovators all working on sharing with you opportunities in payments in India."
Reason#7 Bitcoin "Even if you don’t know what it is, or are an expert miner you will see for the first time in India any session on the future of this digital currency. NASSCOM product conclave will feature the session on giving you an overview to bitcoin and its implications on the future of currency."
Even though the traffic on the way is worst than you can think of, but that doesn’t stop people from packing a full house. Somebody had arranged a "share a car” as well. Even though there are some murmurs, that there is no Guy Kawasaki and no Vinod Khosla this time. But it looks like the format has changed for good - its more about helping entrepreneurs with workshops and sessions, done by successful startups/founders and by practitioners. So people are flying in from all parts of the world (and not only India) to attend this event. Looks like they are going to upload videos of the sessions here, http://productconclave.nasscom.in
