Karim Gillani

Karim has an extensive background in FinTech, engineering, finance, and strategy across North America, Europe, and Africa. He is currently the General Partner at Luge Capital, a FinTech-focused venture fund. Prior to Luge, Karim led PayPal’s Corporate Development and M&A activities in Canada. Before that, Karim started the Corporate Development practice at Xoom, a Nasdaq company that was acquired by PayPal in 2015 for USD 890 million. Prior to Xoom, Karim led M&A and strategic investments for BlackBerry in Silicon Valley, where he was responsible for establishing their largest partnerships.

Karim is a member of the Ontario Securities Commission’s (OSC) FinTech Advisory Committee (FAC) and a Charter Member of the C100.

Karim has a BASc in Engineering from the University of Waterloo, an MSc in Finance from the University of London and an LLM Master of Laws from the University of Toronto.
